Course description
(Disclaimer: There are no tulip fields at the Port of Skagit)
2025 marks the 39th running of the Tulip Run and over the years the race and distances have changed with the times. Originally it was a 10K and 2.5 mile race and was changed to a 2 and 5 mile race once it moved to the Port of Skagit. This year we have brought back the 5K along with the 2 mile and 10K!
The Tulip Run is a relatively flat and fast rural course at the Skagit Regional Airport. The 10K course actually starts with a half mile downhill on Higgins Airport Way which means you will repeat that route on trail coming up the slight incline. The 2 mile and 5k are totally flat! The start and finish lines for the race is located near True North Bakery, 15426 Airport Dr. B, Burlington, WA 98233. The 10K course consists of mostly hard packed gravel trails with a small portion being on the road where as the two mile will be about half road, half trail. Unless directed, runners will run to the right side of the road until coming to a volunteer to assist with the road crossing. The course will be clearly marked and monitors will be at all intersections. Due to the course restrictions, participants must finish within 2 hours. The weather on race day is typically nice and cool. Please dress appropriately.
When returning to the bakery where there will be food and drinks, please stay to the right of Higgins Airport Way and 2 milers are to take the trail to avoid the 10K crossing Higgins onto the trail at Water Tank (finish area).
Be mindful of traffic when crossing Peterson Road back to the warehouse. Watch for turning traffic from Higgins Airport Way. Peterson has a stop sign.
